Adapter Kits

Q: What does an adapter kit include?

A:  Our engine adapter kits are designed to adapt the bare engine to the bare transaxle only.  Our adapter kits consists of: adapter plate, flywheel, pilot bearing and bolts.  We try to give helpful information, we do not provide complete installation instructions.

Q: What does an adapter kit cost?

A:  The price of the engine adapter kit is based on what engine to what style transaxle.  There are specific questions we need to know before we can provide a kit price.  An adapter kit could cost from $450.00 to $1,800.00.

Q: Do you make custom adapter kits?

A:  Yes we will depending on the current production lead times.   We may need the engine, flywheel  and starter from you to make the kit.   Please contact our engineering department to discuss your custom application.

Clutches

Q: Are KEP clutches repairable or rebuildable?

A:  Yes, rebuilds or repairs may be possible, after inspection of the clutch assembly.   Please contact our clutch department for further information.

Q: Is my VW transaxle early or late style?

A: The transaxle input shaft without a sleeve uses the earlier style throw out bearing. It is found in VW up to 1970.

A: The transaxle input shaft having a sleeve uses later style throw out bearing. It is found in VW from 1971 and newer.

Vanagon

Q: Do you have a “kit” price for my conversion?

A:  We did not design a packaged kit for the conversion.  What we designed was conversion parts for the consumer to select which items they wanted to use.

Q: Where can I find prices for your products?

A:  Please contact us, there are specific questions we need to know before we can provide you with the price. We hope to build an online cart that can facilitate these questions and assist in ordering parts online from our website. 

Q: What am I required to purchase to obtain the CARB placard?

A:  The CARB only approved the use of the ’90 – ’94 Subaru 2.2 OBDI dual port engine with the VW Vanagon.  You will be required to purchase our engine adapter kit along with our wiring instructions, intake air duct, air filter and housing, engine cross member, dual port exhaust header (manifold), catalytic converter and muffler.

Q: How do I place an order?

A:  Orders can be taken over the phone, e-mail, FAX or by mail. Check out our contact page for more information.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?

A:  We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.   COD orders are sent "Cashier's Check or Money Order" only.

Q: Is shipping Included?

A:  No, we can provide you with an estimate at the time of order if requested.  
    We can ship via UPS, FedEx and US Postal Service.

Q: Do you ship international

A: Yes, we can ship via UPS, FedEx and US Postal Service all over the world.

Q: What information do you need to provide us when ordering an engine adapter kit?

A:

  • Year, make and size of engine:  

  • Year and type of transaxle

  • How you intend to mount the engine and/or transaxle  (ie:  rear engine or mid-engine or inverted)

Returns

Q:  Can I return a purchase?

A:  Custom products or modified products are non-refundable.
All products must be received by KEP in new condition as they were sent to the customer. A 10% restocking fee may be charged.  The customer will only be refunded for the purchase price of the product minus the restocking fee if applicable.

Q:  How long do I have to return a purchase?

A:  Our product can be returned within 2 months from the date of purchase.  Above return policy applies.

Warranty

Kennedy Engineered Products warrants all products to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for normal use and service for a period of one (1) year from purchase.  Written notice must be immediately given to Kennedy Engineered Products within the warranty period.  We require a copy of the purchase invoice showing the unit was purchased from us or an authorized dealer to verify the product is under warranty.  Products purchased used do not carry a warranty.  This warranty is to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.

Kennedy Engineered Products reserves the right to examine any part returned for warranty claim to determine, to KEP’s satisfaction, whether the material or workmanship of the part does not conform to this limited warranty.  Kennedy Engineered Product’s obligation under this warranty shall be limited to repairing or replacing at its option, any part which is deemed covered by KEP.   No labor, towing, lift or storage charges will be reimbursed for any reason.  Damage to Kennedy Engineered Product’s parts resulting from misuse, improper use, or abuse shall void this limited warranty.  Failure to follow KEP’s installation instructions and the vehicle manufacturer’s installation procedures and specifications shall void this limited warranty.

Kennedy Engineered Products undertakes no responsibility for the quality of the goods except as otherwise provided in this contract.  Kennedy Engineered Products assumes no responsibility that the goods will be fit for any particular purpose for which you may be buying these goods.   Kennedy Engineered Products shall not be liable for any damage or injury to persons or property resulting from improper installation or misuse of any part subject to this warranty.
